LA Fly-By


I love the way Downtown LA reads as a thickening of the grid of the city that bubbles up vertically from the otherwise extreme horizontality of the region.

But the most poetic part of LA are the acres upon acres of tract homes.  If you don't agree, try reading Holy Land: A Suburban Memoir by D.J. Waldie.  


And just fun, I found exactly where our airplane was when I took the second picture, on Google Earth. We were about to cross the 110 into Inglewood before landing at LAX.
